Engr. Yakubu Mustapha Yinusa

(Managing Director, National Engineering & Technical Company)

 

Brief Profile

Engr. Yakubu Mustapha Yinusa has been appointed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) as the 12th Managing Director, NETCO effective May 2018. He joined the services of the Corporation as Senior Civil / Structural Engineer in 1992 and was deployed to National Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO) Limited, Lagos. Within the period 1992 to 2006, he had worked and held various positions as Senior Civil / Structural Engineer, Lead Engineer, Field Engineering coordinator and Project Manager.

His previous engineering design efforts involved a broad band of projects activities in the Oil and Gas facilities which include Fixed Platforms and Floating Structures, from Conceptual, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Engineering Design (DED), through to Fabrication and Construction Supervision. Notable projects he actively participated, include Escravos Gas Project (EGP), NLNG Expansion Projects, Erha FPSO Design Development Project, East Area Projects, Bonga SW / Aparo Field Development Project and the MPN EPCm2 Contract Major Integrity Project. In 2006, he became the Head Civil / Structural Group in NETCO.

Through hard work and dedication, Engr. Yakubu Mustapha was promoted Deputy Manager in 2007. In 2009, he became Acting Manager, Projects Department. In this capacity and in collaboration with his array of Project Managers, Engr. Yakubu successfully delivered a number of projects meeting stakeholder’s expectations.

In 2013, Engr. Yakubu was promoted Manager, Engineering Department. His responsibility included Engineering resource management, project engineering, contract negotiation in collaboration with Business Development Group and provision of technical support to Top Management

In August 2015, Engr. Yakubu Mustapha was appointed the Executive Director Operations (EDO), the position he held until the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari confirmed his appointment as the Managing Director, NETCO effective May 16, 2018. With this appointment, Engr. Yakubu Mustapha becomes the 12th Managing Director of NETCO since its inception in 1989.

The new NETCO MD has travelled far and wide across the globe to many countries like USA, United Kingdom, Malaysia and France in the pursuit of project activities and has also attended several leadership and Management courses.

He’s noted for being a “Rules Player”, who takes work as a breeze and constantly bearing in mind that “knowledge is power”. Engr. Yakubu Mustapha has passion for providing support to young engineers and an endearing attitude towards NETCO’s course. It is therefore, no surprise to many that he became the first indigenous (home-grown) Managing Director of NETCO. Through dint of hard work, Engr. Yakubu has garnered a number of awards to his credit, which include NETCO MD’s Recognition and Award for Excellence, NETCO Top Management commendation for Cost saving on NETCO in – house projects and GM GLD’s Prize for Leadership.

Engr. Yakubu is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and registered by the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

He started his working career with Bayero University, Kano in the Department of Civil Engineering in 1986 as a Graduate Assistant. He also worked as Project Engineer with Ove-Arup & Partners, a firm of consulting Engineers, Lagos between 1989 and 1991 prior to his joining the Corporation in 1992.

Born on July 14, 1962 in the ancient town of Ilorin, Kwara State. Engr. Yakubu holds a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree and Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree, both in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1985. and University of Lagos in 1988 respectively.

He is happily married to his amiable Wife, Mrs. Aishat Yakubu and they are blessed with Children. His hobbies include fitness, travelling and exploring different places.

PROFILE OF ENGR. USMAN MOHAMMED BAKUNDI

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, OPERATIONS

 

Engr. Usman Mohammed Bakundi has been appointed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), as the Executive Director Operations of National Engineering and Technical Company, (NETCO) effective June 7, 2018.

Engr. Usman Mohammed Bakundi was born on February 3, 1959 in Taraba State. He attended the Federal Polytechnic Kaduna, where he obtained his Higher National Diploma, (HND) in 1985. He obtained his Post Diploma Degree (PDG), in 2006 and Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering in 2009 from Bayero University, Kano State.

Prior to his appointment, he was the Manager Facilities, PSC Division in National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS), a Corporate Services Unit (CSU) in the Exploration and Production (E&P) Directorate of the NNPC charged with the responsibility of managing Nigeria Government's investment in the Upstream sector of the Oil and Gas industry.

Engr. Bakundi has worked as Project Team Leader for Egina Field Development Project. He was also the Lead Facilities Team on concept selection workshop for the Bonga South West Aparo / Bonga North Field Development proposal. Lead Facilities Team to SNEPCo and Sterling Energy Exploration Co Budget / Performance Reviews. He supervised the development of Tendering and Contracting strategy for SNEPCo, Sterling Energy Exploration Co Assets while in NAPIMS. 

He also functioned as Seabed / Structural Engineer I for JV Operations Division in NAPIMS, Site Representative on the NLNG Project, Civil Engineer in Engineering & Technical Division and Warri Refining and Petroleum Company respectively.

Engr. Bakundi an astute professional is bringing to NETCO invaluable wealth of his experience in the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. He has dutifully served the Corporation the last thirty-one (31) years culminating in his recent appointment as the EDO, NETCO.

He is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, (COREN). His computer skills include but not limited to Priavera P3, MS Office, AutoCad, VB and Access.

Engr. Usman Bakundi is happily married with Children. His hobbies include athletics and long tennis.

PROFILE OF MR. BABAJO SALISU TIJANI

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SERVICES      

   

The Management of NNPC has appointed Mr. Babajo Salisu Tijjani as the Executive Director Services (EDS) in NETCO effective April 20, 2017.  The new NETCO EDS graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1984.

A member of Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Facility Management Professional (FMP), Mr Babajo joined NNPC on May 16, 1986 and has held various job functions within the Corporation in his 31-year service.  Among the job functions are General Manager, Support Services, Greenfield Refinery Projects Division from November 2016 to April 2017;  Acting General Manager, Group Admin Services Department, NNPC Towers; Manager, Office and Management Services NNPC Towers; Deputy Manager, Office Services, NNPC Towers; Deputy Manager, Total Quality Management, IDSL, Benin.

The new NETCO Executive Director Services also served as Chief Research and Price Intelligence Officer, PPMC, Kaduna Area Office; Deputy/Chief Security, Fire and Safety Officer, NNPC Lagos Zonal Office; Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, NNPC Warri Zonal Office; Senior Administrative Officer, NNPC Warri Zonal Office; Administrative Officer I, Warri Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (WRPC); Administrative Officer II, Communication, Kaduna  Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (KRPC) and Personal Officer II, Refineries Sector Headquarters, Kaduna.

In the course of serving the Corporation, Mr. Babajo has served in many committees which include NNPC Restructuring and Change Management Programme office as well as member of Project Implementation Committee in March this year.  He served as Chairman, Committee on review of Office and Space Allocation Guidelines at NNPC Corporate Headquarters in November 2016.  In September 2015, Mr. Babajo served on the committee on Cost Reduction/Optimization in NNPC set up by Group Executive Director, Finance and Services Directorate.

Between 2009 and 2013, he served as Chairman, Departmental NNPC Group Admin Services, Tender’s Committee (DTC) while between June 2007 and July 2008 he served as Member/Alternate Chairman, Management Tenders Board of IDSL, Benin. The new NETCO EDS served as member of Petroleum Products Monitoring Committee for Kaduna Metropolis between January and June 2007.  In March 2005, he was a member of committee on verification of prices of petroleum products set up by the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.

Mr Babajo has attended many local and international courses and conferences among which are International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Workplace Conferences and Expos, USA in 2014, 2013, 2012, and 2011.  He also attended courses by the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) on Building and leading a high-performance team in April 2013 and Recruitment and Selection Skills in November 2013.

In November 2012, the NETCO EDS attended a course in Dubai on Contract Risk Management and Compliance. He attended Facility Management Core Professional Courses and was awarded Facility Management Professional (FMP) Designation/Certification on April 11, 2011.  He has also attended courses on Managing Contract Procedures, Tenders Specification and Contract, Analytical Problem Solving and Creative Thinking, Project Management, Strategic Sales Management Workshop, Petroleum Marketing in a Deregulated Market, Price Mechanism for product import and export, Leadership and Motivation, Safety Manager’s Forum and Effective Communication Course in various locations of the Corporation. In September 2008 also attended Risk Based Process Safety Management course at Houston, Texas, USA.

Born on August 15, 1962, Mr Babajo is an experienced Human Resources practitioner and facility Manager. He is highly committed, customer focussed and team player with passion for excellent service delivery.  He has a track record of value addition to activities of NNPC spanning over three decades of dedicated service in the upstream and downstream sectors of the Corporation.  He is happily married and his hobbies include reading, current affairs and walking.
