DR. AYO BALOGUN TAKES CHARGE IN NAPIMS.

With the recent changes in the top echelon of the NNPC, Dr. Ayo Balogun has emerged as the Group General Manager, NAPIMS. For Dr. Balogun who has previously served in NAPIMS as the Manager, Planning Department, the new posting is synonymous to a second home coming.

A 1975 graduate of Economics from the University of Ibadan, Dr Balogun began his career as a Teaching and Research Assistant with his Alma Mater and worked there till he bagged his PhD degree in Economics in 1981.

In 1981, he was appointed a Special Assistant (Research) in the office of the Presidential Adviser on Economic Affairs. He held this position till 1983. Dr. Ayo Balogun commenced his 25 years sojourn in NNPC in 1984 when he was deployed to the Economic Research and Intelligence Department
(now CP & S- Corporate Planning and Strategy Division). He became the Commercial Manager of Hyson/ Carlson, London office in 1992 and served in this position until 1995.

Between 1995 and 2005, the Group General Manager, NAPIMS served the Corporation in various capacities, namely: General Manager and Senior Technical Assistant to the Honorable Minister of Petroleum Resources, Alternate Chairman, NNPC Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Committee, Group General Manager, London Office and lastly before his recent redeployment to NAPIMS, The Group General Manager, New Businesses in the Commercial and Investment Division of NNPC.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Balogun has brought to bear on his myriad of assignments, the additional knowledge acquired from the College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford, United Kingdom as these assignments transverse the upstream and downstream sectors of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry. Also appointed alongside the GGM are five General Managers. The new General Manager Gas Division, Engr. Paul Ajisafe obtained a Bachelor of Engineering Degree (B. ENG) in Mechanical Engineering. He joined the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in December 1977 as a Project Mechanical Engineer on the Warri Refinery Project at its inception. A member of several professional institutions including NSE, COREN, NISP.

Paul has in kitty over 25 years of work experience that will serve him well as the General Manager, Gas Division. NNPC Management has Mr. M. A. Fiddi as the General Manager, Production Sharing Contract (PSC) Division. In his new capacity, he is also charged with the responsibility of overseeing the activities of the Frontier Exploration Services (FES).

Mr. Morrison Fiddi obtained his first degree (Bsc Geology) in 1978 from the Florida State University, Tallahassee, Florida and a mini MBA (2007) from the CWC School of Energy, Houston. His career with NNPC began in 1981, when he was deployed as a well site Geologist. Sequel to his recent appointment as the GM PSC/FES, Mr. Fiddi had served the Corporation in various capacities; these include:

Deputy Manager, Drilling Project Planning and Liaison, NPDC, Benin;  Manager, Exploration, PSC Division, NAPIMS and recently, Executive Director, Nigeria- Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority. Aboard the new Management team is Mr. Monday A. Agbuza who was appointed as the General Manager, Joint Venture Operations Division. A 1978 graduate of Geology from the University of Ibadan, Mr. Agbuza also holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Petroleum Exploration from The Norwegian Institute of Technology. University of Trandheim, Norway.

Mr. Agbuza joined the NNPC as a wellsite Geologist in 1979. He rose through the ranks and was until his latest appointment, the Manager, Joint Venture Exploration Department. He is a Certified Petroleum Geologist (CPG) of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) amongst other professional bodies of which he is a member. Engineer H. S. Tahir has also been appointed the General Manager, Materials Management Division. Engr Tahir graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from Ahmadu Bello University, Kaduna in 1977 and also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Manufacturing Technology and Project Design from East Warwickshire College, United Kingdom. He joined the services of the NNPC in 1991 as a Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer responsible for Technical Services and Project in the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemical Company.

Prior to his recent appointment, Engr Tahir had served in the Corporation in various capacities. He is a corporate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and COREN. Also on board of the new management team is Alhaji Abdullahi Kallamu who has been appointed as General Manager, Finance and Accounts Division.

Alhaji Abdullahi Kallamu graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State of Nigeria in 1981 with a B.Sc. in Accounting and PGD, Petroleum Management from the College of Petroleum Studies, Oxford, United Kingdom. He joined NNPC in 1988 and has worked in the Finance and Accounts Directorate in various capacities spanning 21 years.

No doubt this is a formidable team and they are determined to deliver on the NAPIMS mandate and possibly exceed expectations.
